Hi! I’m Mallory, the mother behind the letters. I started The Uncommon Mother because somewhere along the way I lost track of who I was. When I became a mom it felt like I was losing parts of myself, parts of my very being. It wasn't all at once but in tiny fragments over time. In the blur of doing everything for everyone else I didn't feel like I had the space to meet this new version of me. I grew so tired of feeling like a stranger in my own body. I didn't want to keep performing. I needed to feel connected again. So, I started writing and reaching for what I thought was lost, but instead was hidden beneath all along. The Uncommon Mother became a place of connection for me and now it's a place of connection for you, too. I began writing letters that made space for what was too tender for social media, too complicated for group chats and too sacred for a checklist. These letters aren’t instructions. They’re invitations. They're rituals to return to yourself. To remember how far you’ve come.
